I like the Thunder Tea Rice at Joo Chiat, and it was an absolute culinary delight! The flavors were vibrant, and the ingredients fresh. The unique combination of herbs, vegetables, and rice made for a wholesome and satisfying meal. The service was prompt but unfortunately there is no longer a dine in option. They moved to a smaller set up. If you're a fan of healthy, flavorful dishes, Thunder Tea Rice at Joo Chiat is a must-try. Highly recommend!

Very reasonable price at 5,50 onwards a bowl and you get a choice of white or brown rice. We went with a twin set that comes with 2 side dishes for 21+. Don’t recommend for average appetite, as the single bowl portion is quite large. The squid was chewy and not very tasty but the chai po omelette was ok. Overall, not a bad dish but the herb soup lacks flavour. The rice with generous toppings add crunchy texture with every bite. They offer chilli padi or chilli sauce condiment that elevates the flavour for me. The shop however is very hot with no air conditioning .. so not really pleasant to dine in on a hot day.

Visited this place after a satisfactory of a wholesome grabbed lunch of thunder tea rice last year. The anticipation far exceeded my expectation. The overall taste of the thunder tea rice, basil chicken, egg with basil was of average.

This has been one of my go-to places for years to get this very special and healthy Chinese hakka preparation. The combination comes with rice, tofu, some vegetables and peanuts alongside a hot green tea based soup. This is their flagship outlet which was renovated a few years ago. What’s great is the fact that I can get a vegetarian option easily by requesting them to remove the anchovies. Must try

Healthy choice around the area. I tried the basil chicken rice set with vegetables and thunder tea rice. Both are ok, but I prefer the basil chicken can be served hot. A special mention to their fried hakka tofu which I really like. It is crispy on outside, juicy and piping hot from the inside.
