The stall at Joo Chiat. We ordered onion, ikan bilis, prawn of cos, chicken liver and chicken boneless meat. Sadly the bishop's nose and gizzard were not yet available. I like it that they offered Shopee Pay. 👍 Somehow I still prefer the stall at Amoy Street Food Center. Probably cos the last time I ordered, everything was just freshly done. Deep fried food just had to be eaten immediately right after they are just done. It seems the street along Joo Chiat has many Halal restaurants and eateries. That's something we could explore another day. In the meantime, enjoy your Vadai!

Fantastic! We love vadai and have tried many many vadai stalls from all over Singapore and I have to say, this is the best vadai we have ever had! The batter is light and airy and the prawn is fresh. Besides prawn vadai, they have ikan bilis vadai as well. But apart from the vadai, they also offer chicken wings, chicken skin, bishop nose, boneless chicken, chicken gizzard and chicken liver. I bought a stick each of gizzard and liver for $2.30 each and 4 prawn vadai at $1.20 each. There’s always a line formed to buy and usually the order is for their prawn vadai. So to keep up with orders, they are constantly frying their vadai so it’s always fresh and hot. Walking back home 10 mins later, the vadai is still warm. It was gobbled up before I could take any pics of the vadai so I could only show an empty bag. My mom enjoyed the gizzard and liver while we finished the vadai … two thumbs up for the prawn vadai!

Arguably the best vadai in Singapore. Love their oily aromatic light crispy dough especially the ones with prawns or onions. Some batches of their green chilli can be chilli-padi quality (ie very spicy) like the ones given today! Boom! Have tasted also their Golden Mile Food Centre outlet. Quite consistent quality. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

Was in Joo chiat area on a Friday lunch time. There's no queue or crowd at this timing. The very first time I ever tried Vadai was middle last year. We chanced upon this shop on the way to dinner. A friend bought 3 for me to try. Frankly I am not a fan of deep fried oily stuff these days. But these are one of the most delicious sinful food that I had ever tasted that when ever I passed by a stall selling vadai, I would buy a few to sample. The vadai here are sold piping hot and crispy. The outside are deep fried to a greasy crispy exterior whereas the interior dough are fluffy soft. Vadai are best eaten with a bite of the bun and then a bite of the small green chilli. When the friend told me this is how it's usually eaten, I did not believe him. I thought he was pranking me. I have never eaten or bite into any raw green chilli before. The crunchy green chilli gives the bun a extra spicy kick and elevates the vadai to another level. And a few minutes later the tongue starts to burn. The combo of green chilli and vadai complement each other perfectly. Best to have a nice glass of cold milk or soya milk after that to sooth the spiciness after effects of the chillies. Those who cannot take spicy should maybe take a tiny nibble at the chilli then a bite of the bun. Those who love spicy should ask for more green chillies cos they are just never enough. Vadai are extremely sinful and unhealthy. Best not to eat too regularly. I also ordered the deep fried chicken skin to try. Not a fan of fried chicken skin till kfc started selling them. The skins here are very thin, crunchy and crispy. Not very salty though and I think would have tasted nicer with more savory seasoning. An hour or two after buying them, the skins are surprisingly crispy still. The service staff is good. I remembered on my last visit last year, the staff asked if we could wait another 10 mins as the vadais at the counter are cold and not fresh and they are frying a new batch. There was a long queue then. Must try are the Prawn and ikan bilis vadai.

Still one of the best vadai. The soft chewy texture, light crisp and unique spicy taste of the dough is awesome. If you pack home, make sure you air fry for 3-5min at 80-120degC for ultimate enjoyment. Damn shiok.
