The taste and quality of the food matches the low price point. For example, the Japanese aglio olio with clams tasted like an American cooked bak chor mee in a San Francisco Chinese takeaway. My dining companions (children) described the pizza as tomato ketchup on a biscuit. That said, the food is not the problem here. We visited this place with proportionate expectations of the food and so that was not what offended us. What is really displeasing with this place is the service standard. I give this zero stars out of five. This is because all of the staff were constantly hiding in the kitchen behind the curtains - no one was in the main dining area availing themselves to any customer requests. Additionally, every time the staff served each dish (there were 5 of us in the dining party and we ordered 7 food items altogether), the staff (various different ones) would simply place the dish on the edge of our table and walk away - in most other places (I make this comparison because other places also charge the same service fee of 10%), the staff will say out the name of the dish and place the item in front of the person who ordered it. Besides this, there are other indiscretions but my overall impression is that the staff have not been adequately trained or incentivised to provide 10%-service-charge-worthy levels of service. Overall, come here if you know what to expect of the food but be aware that you are paying 10% service charge FOR NOTHING. Coincidentally, I have noticed that the service in many other Japan Food Holdings restaurants that I've been to are comparably bad. Perhaps this is an endemic culture within this listed company. This presents quite a dilemma - on the one hand, I'd love to support local but on the other hand, I don't get back fair value in my support. One thing for sure though, I avoid their shares like the plague - their recent financial results corroborate my opinion.

Very good tasting food at this price. Ordered duck carbonara and was given a decent amount of duck. I love the cheese pizza, the dough tasted freshly baked. Overall is good, waiting time 20 mins on a weekday dinner time. Will definitely come back again 👍🏻

It's a tastier version of saizeriya but more expensive. Food potions are small. I waited for about 30 mins for 2 plates of pasta and one curry fries side dish, and the restaurant is not full house.

Ordered the smoked duck carbonara, arrived barely warm and taste was fair. The Japanese clam pasta arrived warm but taste was fair. Only the salmon cream pizza tasted ok.

Saizeriya but VERY ex. Took over the old 18Chefs place, visited cuz my friend and I saw the poster ads. Food is alright, fav Is the quadruple cheese pizza (cheesy and has pieces of brie, small as personal pan from pizza hut and cardboard like base). Pasta: truffle pasta was lukewarm near cold, teriyaki chicken was lacking (friend regretted ordering it), bolognese boring and only tastes of tomato. Only good one was the carbonara duck but few pieces of meat. Side dish: fries are fries, crispy but no salt. Cheesy demiglaze meatball is pretty gd, 5 pieces in savoury sauce. Staff are polite and efficient. Overall I think it's nice to try once but never again, go to the hotpot grill store nxt door better for the price.

Can’t compare with Saizeriya as it is more expensive, smaller and less appetising. It has a nice atmosphere though. Margherita - small and sad. Took an exceptionally long time to come. Aglio Olio with Clams - Good bite to the pasta, tasty sauce. Salmon Cream Pizza - Really what it sounds like. Tom Yum Pasta - The Tom Yum taste wasn’t very strong, it’s more tomato like. The food is exactly what is shown on the picture. Do note that the price on the menu is not inclusive of GST and service charge. Garlic focaccia - Hard and difficult to chew.

Upsetting Food size! For the price of 19.90 the mix beef and salmon not only the salmon and beef overly cooked (salmon was very dry ) the size was for a kindergarten child! Small! Less then 100g each! Was my 1st time here and the last! Ordered few other dishes too but i rather go somewhere else.

Reasonable and affordable place to patronise. But need to navigate to the correct lane to reach the place. Initially, I went to the other Shokudo (Japanese restaurant). Milan Shokudo is a Halal place too. Enjoys.

Eat here for lunch with my colleagues. We were given tables upon arrival and ordered via QR code. The process is seemless and food came out not long after. Food was decent for the price. I love the variety of selection we could have so perhaps I’ll try some other pasta out. The steak burger I ordered was fine but was on the drier side. It has gravy sauce so that did help to combat the dryness. Overall will come back as the service staff were helpful and quick to assist us.
