Delicious nasi kerabu! The briyani rice was perfectly cooked and the rempah was very fragrant with just the right kick for my admittedly low-threshold spice receptors. Chicken was tender and well marinated, ulam was fresh and tasty esp with the addition of pomegranate seeds, keropok was also very crispy and yummy. The chili was good too and spicy for me. The only gripe one might have is that there might not be enough rice to mop up all the rempah and chili!

Had the Nasi Kerabu with Pomfret Fish. Love that the rice is not overpowering with turmeric and spices. The pomfret was charred to perfection on a banana leaf with delicious sauce. Comes with fish crackers(keropok), salted egg, sambal and the star of the show, the ulam(vege). The ulam has such a refreshing taste!! Be sure to mix it all with the rice. It elevates the taste of everything. A very unique taste and worth experiencing. Just love!! Happy that this shop opens in Yishun!!

Excellent nasi kerabu all around. Worth a trip over to Yishun (nearer than Kota Bahru after all). The rice skips the blue pea colour, but packs solid, fragrant tumeric yumminess. Chicken is perfectly done, holding enough smoky grill flavour through the percik gravy. The kerabu was fresh kacang botol (winged bean) with refreshing pomegranate seeds. Completed with crisp keropok, salted egg and amazing sambal budu (fish sauce) that packs a nice punch. 6 stars if it had come with solok lada, but I'll be back for more!

Tried the Chicken Nasi Kerabu @ $8.50 (Nov's intro price) and totally delighted by it: I personally liked the tumeric rice for its added health benefits instead of the traditional blue butterfly-pea rice which would've added colour to the dish presentation; the fresh crunchy salad which included among other things my favourite wing-beans plus pomegranate; the chili sambal was excellent compliment without excess heat; the whole chicken leg well marinated and perfectly grilled; and the Kerabu gravy is to die for. Mixing the gravy with the sambal and salad in each bite-full with a morsel of chicken simply launch me into orbit!

It’s heartening to see a young chap selling a very traditional Malay dish. It gives validity to a dish at a time where many would not have known abt it. The chicken was grilled perfectly. And so is the grilled pomfret. If I could share one gripe - maybe the portion of the rice could be a little bit more. Other than that Yishun has a gem in its midst. Must try! Take a bow Nurl.
