There was a short queue for weekday lunch. Sambal belacan portion was big but tastes watered down, Sayur lodeh was the worst I've had because it's bland and watery. Sambal goreng was unimpressive as it was quite soggy. I was caught off by how much potato was in it which I felt was a cheap way to disguise as bean curd rather than an improvement to the dish. Beef Rendang was ok but we were hoping for more sauce since it's not the soft and moist kind. It's my first time here and heard good reviews about it but my friend said the macik retired already so quality dropped. Don't think I'll be back for nasi padang of this price. $15 for 2 of us.

Heard many reviews about this nasi Padang stall in blk 128 Toa Payoah lor 1, happened to be nearby and decided to give it a try. There wasnt any queue when i was there. There were only 2 pax infront of me. Selection of dishes was quite limited actually but went ahead to order. Ordered the rendang, stir fried spinach and a slices of omelette. Bill came up to SGD$7.50. Have to say that it was quite expensive. Food wise, rendang wasnt too bad. Have to say, portion of the rendang was quite alot. The spinach and omelette was normal. But have to say their lemak chili padi gravy was very different from others.

I have been to this place since as long as I can remember. A native to Toa Payoh, this stall was formerly at the corner of Block 125 coffeeshop, back in the 80s. Yes I do agree sometime the price can be slightly pricey as to compare to some other stalls calling themselves Nasi Padang when it just a mixed rice stall. Well if you want to eat something good, authentic it's a good price to pay as Che Rose Nasi Padang serves authentic Nasi Padang that is on the same par as those you can find in Padang, Sumatra. Don't just take my words, you have to try it yourself. My personal favorite would be the Squid, Rendang (beef & chicken) also their Gulai Ayam.

If you've grown up in Toa Payoh, you would have eaten or at least known this Nasi Padang. Hailed from 1968, they had been here since forever and moved around Toa Payoh Lorong 1 a few times. Saying I had grown up with this stall is no kidding, and I probably have their Nasi Padang at least once a week back then. Some friends have always said, Nasi Padang stalls love to overcharge Chinese customers, unlike what an out of touch MP said some years ago, $2.50 gets you Nasi Padang with Drumstick. Some would say because Chinese are rich, we charge you more. Others with a more logical approach, they are selling Halal food. While Chinese can feed on non Halal, we are depriving other Muslims of their food when they sold us their servings. In any case, I leave it to your judgement, I did had experiences when the same Malay guy ordered the exact same thing in front of me, and i did got charged at least $2 more compared to his plate of Nasi Padang at Che Rose. But I don't take it against them. There's only so many pieces of their delicious Fried Chicken and they do get sold out usually mid lunch peak. In any case, I am back here today at 1230pm, all I love are in stock (except drumsticks) and I am game to eat. The short queue in front of me are all Chinese diners. Figures. My order $11. All my favourites since I was a kid. Fried chicken, Beef Rendang, Bergedil, fried egg, mixed cabbage on rice topped with their curry chicken sauce and sambal. Some might think $11 for this is horrendous. I think its fair. I knew their Beef and Chicken are delivered daily. How I knew? Cos I used to know a relative whom delivered their beef fresh daily from Tekka Market. He had since retired but vendors he knew took over. Fresh supplies daily is not cheap in a coffeeshop stall quantity. That's quality food. And for the same quality if you eat the same in a restaurant, trust me you will be paying way more than $11. Tender and flavourful rendang, crispy and juicy fried chicken, freshness you can taste. Their Nasi Padang and sambal is of a very local Malay style. A familiar taste we grow up with. Now the pair of sisters took over from Auntie Rose. Still you can see Auntie Rose seating at the stall with a watchful eye. Quality and flavour totally the same from when I first had them 4 decades ago. I will definitely come back for more.

Very good nasi padang, chicken is nice, ikan bilis crunchy, and the achar with the right sourness. Abit on the expensive though, this plate set me back by $7.40.
